What's in a backup

One file you can actually move around.

Everything lands in your destination folder, inside a folder named after this site, with the site’s domain and the date in the filename. Take the ZIP anywhere, or leave it on the server.

BackupEncoderFiles / YourSite / example.com-2026-09-30-030002.zip

Your files

WordPress, themes, plugins and uploads. Cache folders, .git and node_modules are skipped automatically.

Your database

Every table, dumped with mysqldump where the server has it, with a built-in PHP fallback where it doesn’t.

restore.php and a log

A standalone restore script and a plain-text log sit next to the ZIP, both ready to download.

Back up, keep, restore

The whole life of a backup, handled.

01

Back up

Click Backup, or let the schedule do it. Large sites are built in short, time-limited steps so the server’s PHP time limit never cuts it off.

02

Keep

Backup History lists every ZIP with its size and date. Download the ZIP, restore.php or both, read the log, or delete old ones.

03

Restore anywhere

Copy the ZIP and restore.php into a clean WordPress install, open restore.php in your browser, and the site comes back on the same domain or a new one.

Why it holds up

Made for sites that outgrew their backup plugin.

No artificial size limit

The ZIP grows as big as your site needs. There’s no built-in cap to hit.

Resumable in steps

Work is split into requests of a set length (20 seconds by default), so slow hosts keep going.

Integrity checks

Choose basic size checks or full checksums, and decide what happens if a file fails. A file that only changed mid-backup is told apart from a real fault.

Large downloads

ZIPs are streamed in chunks. If a download fails, you’re shown the exact server path to fetch it by FTP.

Five tabs

Backup, Schedule, Settings, History, Audit Log.

Backup

A progress bar, time remaining and a live log you can copy.

Schedule

Run every N hours or days from a start time, and keep a set number of backups. A backup with a problem is run again, and you’re emailed if it’s still there.

Settings

Destination folder, exclusions, time per request, integrity checking and where to email problems.

Backup History

Every backup with Zip, restore.php, Both, View Log and Delete.

Audit Log

What BackupEncoder did, when, and who asked for it, including every changed setting. Search it, sort it, or download it as a CSV.

Sleep better. Back up tonight.
